Considered one of the seminal 'coming of age' movies, Stand By Me (1986) represents one of Stephen King's least horrific stories in a generally wholesome and appealing way but isn't as immensely gripping or thematically rich, at least in its final presentation, as its reputation would have you believe. Maybe a lot of this comes down to its kind of unrelatable core conceit and some of the stranger twists and turns of its narrative, though the overall experience is by no means a negative one and essentially represents an easy-to-watch, well-acted meander through a distant memory. 6/10.

One of the most amazing films I have ever seen. The acting by the four boys is incredible, in particular Wil Wheaton and River ed by Rob Reiner 'Stand By Me' is a funny heart warming story of four best friends with very different family backgrounds who go on a journey to find the body of a kid who had been missing but never found. The boys figure if they find the body it might bring them fame and fortune and may help them to escape their dreary lives in Castle the way the boys discover things about themselves and realise they aren't as strong as they thought, and maybe finding a kids dead body isn't exactly going to be the trip of a life time that they had had in mind. 'Stand By Me' is a film I couldn't fault in any way and the sound track is just as good. A must see film and one the best I have ever seen.
